Step 2: Stop using your previous checking account.
Allow time for outstanding checks to clear and automatic debits and credits to switch over. Destroy your ATM and/or debit card(s), any unused checks and deposit slips.
Step 3: Move your Direct Deposit(s) to Grinnell State Bank.
Notify anyone making direct deposits to your previous account of your new Grinnell State Bank account information. For your convenience we have packets that include Direct Deposit Authorization Forms available at each of our locations. To ensure payment has been made to your account, please monitor accounts closely.

Step 4: Transfer any automatic payments and debits to Grinnell State Bank.
Notify anyone deducting automatic payments (insurance, phone service providers, gym etc.) from your previous account of your new Grinnell State Bank account information.
Your Switch Kit will include Automatic Payment Forms to assist you in quickly making this change.
Step 5: Close your previous checking account.
After all your checks and automatic payments have cleared, close your previous checking account.
